Description For nearly a century, the Institute for Juvenile Research (IJR) has been a leading force in providing a broad range of innovative mental health services to children, adolescents and their families, as well as rich grounds for research in prevention and intervention, and clinical experiences for trainees in the fields of child psychiatry and child psychology. IJR, established in 1909 and transferred to UIC in 1990, was the first child guidance clinic and the second organized psychology training program in the nation. It was also one of the first sites for training child psychiatrists.
